Phnom Penh: On Thursday, August 25, 2016, KOICA Cambodia Office and the Cambodian Rehabilitation and Development Board/Council for the Development (CRDB/CDC) organized a successful “Hearing Session for KOICA’s New Projects for 2018” at the CRDB/CDC.
The hearing session was presided over by Mr. Jeong Yun Gil, Country Director of KOICA Cambodia Office, and joined by other technical staff of KOICA. The Cambodian side was led by H.E. Im Sour, Deputy Secretary General, and participated by the representatives from other five Cambodian line ministries.
The hearing session was conducted after the successful preparation workshop of the “Request Survey Workshop for Fiscal Year 2018” which jointly organized by KOICA and CRDB/CDC on June 30, 2016. After the request survey workshop, CDC and KOICA received 34 projects from 13 Cambodian line ministries.
The main objectives of this hearing session were to gain more understanding on project concept papers (PCPs) from selected five ministries with eight candidate projects, to determine candidate projects list, and to select future projects for KOICA’s Fiscal Year 2018.
During the session, the selected five presented their proposals: 1- Ministry of Health (2 projects); 2- Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport (2 projects); 3- Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (2 projects); 4- Ministry of Environment (1 project); and 5- Ministry of Industry and Handicraft (1 project).
The Republic of Korea through the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) has provided official development assistant (ODA) to the Kingdom of Cambodia over the last two decades in four areas: health, education, agriculture, and infrastructure. These priorities areas accord with the Cambodian development priorities as articulated in the Rectangular Strategy-Phase III and the National Strategic Development Plan 2014-2018.
Be reminded that as friendship and economic partnership between both countries have been strengthened, the total volume of KOICA’s grant aid to Cambodia between 1991 and 2016 reached US$203 million. For the year 2016 alone, KOICA’s estimated grant aid to Cambodia totals US$23 million.
