Khmer Times’ new COO

Chief Operating Officer Kay Kimsong. KT/Mai Vireak

The Khmer Times on Wednesday appointed Kay Kimsong as its chief operating officer to help build up the newspaper’s coverage in the lead-up to the national election in July and also to strengthen the group’s corporate-public partnerships and multimedia market penetration.

Mr Kimsong was the former editor-in-chief of The Phnom Penh Post and had also previously worked for The Cambodia Daily. He has more than 20 years of journalism experience and brings to the Khmer Times his extensive on-the-ground reporting experience and his management skills in running a newsroom.

“During my two decades-long experience in journalism, I have seen first-hand the very important role media has played to inform, educate and to entertain its readers and consumers. For a democratic nation like Cambodia, the media plays a very constructive role,” said Mr Kimsong.

“I am very confident that with my experience, I can help the Khmer Times as COO to do more hard-hitting investigative stories, more in-depth interviews with politicians, businesspeople, and industry experts, and also to publish more analysis pieces.”

“The Khmer Times has invested in good editors, journalists and photographers who have much experience in the media sector. An important part of my work is to make the group sustainable in the current competitive market to win the trust of the public and also advertisers,” he added.
