IMF-backed stats portal launches

Cambodia officially launched the National Summary Data Page (NSDP), a portal that publishes essential macroeconomic data in a bid to enhance transparency and openness.

The portal is part of the International Monetary Fund’s Enhanced General Data Dissemination System (e-GDDS), which seeks to guide members in providing their economic and financial data to the public.

The NSDP, which was financed by the Japanese government, is hosted by the National Bank of Cambodia on its website.

“Publication of essential macroeconomic data through the NSDP will provide national policy makers and a broad range of domestic and international stakeholders, including investors and rating agencies, with easy access to information that the IMF’s Executive Board has identified as critical for monitoring economic conditions and policies,” said the IMF.

“Making this information simultaneously available to all users will bring greater data transparency.”

Hang Lina, director general of the National Institute of Statistics of Cambodia, said the launch of the portal is strong indication that the government is prioritising transparency and public access to information.

Louis Marc Ducharme, director of the IMF’s Statistics Department, congratulated the Cambodian government for the launch.

“This is an important step forward in data dissemination. I am confident that Cambodia will benefit from using the e-GDDS as a framework for further development of its statistical system.”
