On the morning of September 19, 2016, H.E Sun Chanthol Senior Minister, Minister of Public Works and Transport, H.E. Khim Bunsong, Governor of Siem Reap province, H.E Nou Phalla, Chief of Siem Reap Provincial Council, and officials from the Ministry of Public Works and Transport attended the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of three main bridges in Siem Reap province and handing over 5 tons of cold mix asphalt concrete to Siem Reap Provincial Department of Public Works and Transport for pothole repairs.
When completed next year, the three bridges will help alleviate the traffic congestion and improve the connection between Siem Reap city and National Road number 6 leading to Phnom Penh. The three bridges that are:
1) Preah Reach Domnak Bridge: This new bridge is being built in parallel to the old existing bridge that was built in 1929 with a total length of 46 meters and width of 8.2 meters. The construction is estimated to cost 1,992,000,000 Riels.
2) Wat Po Lanka Bridge: This new bridge with a total length of 33 meters and width of 9 meters, will replace the old bridge that was constructed in 1985. The construction is estimated to cost 1,499,000,000 Riels.
3) Wat Preah En Kosa Bridge: This new bridge with a total length of 33 meters and width of 9 meters will replace the old bridge that was built around 1985. The construction is estimated to cost 1,499,000,000 Riels.
After the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of these three bridges, Minister Sun handed 5 tons of Cool Mix Asphalt concrete to Siem Reap Provincial Department of Public Works and Transport and conducted the test of repairing potholes. This product can be used to repair potholes in all seasons faster than the traditional material.
