“You have to keep the spirit alive, you have to keep the work alive, you have to cultivate a culture of possibility,” former U.S. President Bill Clinton said in his closing remarks at the final meeting of the Clinton Global Initiative Wednesday in New York City.

In CGI’s 11 years, it has become a key forum to form partnerships and launch new development initiatives. It’s more than Clinton himself may have expected when he first proposed the idea in 2005. He was not certain whether the concept would take off, or whether participants would brave the New York City traffic in the same week as the United Nations General Assembly.

Now, many participants spent the week wondering what will fill the gap and provide the creative energy for unexpected groups and people to come together.

Devex takes a look at what happened at this year’s CGI meeting, where the focus was on “partnering for global prosperity.” Watch our Facebook Live interviews, and stay tuned for more Devex coverage on the future of the Clinton Foundation.
