A Chinese firm aims to help Cambodia establish e-government and e-commerce systems to improve the country’s business potential and promote trade facilitation.

Dong Huang, managing director of China-based Anhui Easy Business Digital Technology Co. Ltd., revealed the plan during a meeting with Commerce Minister Pan Sorasak on Tuesday.

Mr. Dong said the company has provided its services to various countries in Asean and Africa such as organizing e-government systems, information services intelligence, import and export management systems, human resources training as well as information technology solutions and consulting.

He added that the company has installed more than 100 e-government systems in China and is now working with the Chinese government to consolidate them into a single platform.

Mr. Sorasak welcomed the move, saying the country would benefit more when the e-government system is completed.

“The ministry welcomes all projects that benefit the development of the country’s business sector such as the creation of AQSIQ to control the quality of goods, issue certifications and obtain customs clearance,” he said, referring to one of China’s major quality management institutes, similar to the US Food and Drug Administration.

Mr. Dong said he would continue sharing information about the company’s successful projects in Asean and Africa, adding that the ministry could choose one of many options to implement in the future.

Sok Siphana, head of the Cambodia Development Resource Institute, told Khmer Times recently that the Kingdom’s proposed e-commerce law comes late in the game, posing additional challenges for Cambodian businesses in Asean.

“We’re the last-comers and we’re trying to catch up,” he said.

Anhui Easy Business Digital Technology Co., Ltd. is one of the biggest providers of e-government and e-commerce outsourcing services in China’s commercial circulation field.
