Cambodia Post’s services grew this year, thanks to a rise in foreign investment in Cambodia, more overseas tourists, and the rising trend of online markets.
Ork Bora, Cambodia Post general director, said yesterday that the increase over all previous years was due to increased confidence of users in the postal service and better logistics.
“The increase of postal service is due to foreign direct investment in the country, an increase in tourists, and the number of Cambodian migrant workers abroad,” Mr. Bora said.
“Particularly, the trend in current markets is E-commerce, so buyers order goods online.”
The online market was growing because companies including Alibaba, eBay and others work with Cambodia Post to deliver goods to this country, Mr. Bora said.
Cambodia Post had distribution partners in 192 countries and most of the postal service had been with the US and European Union.
In the future, Cambodia Post would upgrade its services and products in response to the increasingly popular online market.
Mr. Bora said 25 private companies are registered at the Ministry of Telecom and Posts and added that Cambodia Post delivery service is available in 25 cities and provinces. “It covers all provincial capitals and district towns nationwide.”
In February, Kerry Express, a subsidiary of WorldBridge International (Cambodia), signed a memorandum of understanding with Cambodia Post to expand delivery services in the Kingdom.
