The South Korean-based firm Kolao Group is keen to invest in a car and motorcycle assembly plant in Cambodia, according to an aide to Prime Minister Hun Sen.

Eng Sophalleth, said the proposal was made yesterday during a meeting between Mr. Hun Sen and Oh Sei Yong, the chairman of Kolao Group.

According to Mr. Sophalleth, Mr. Oh is familiar with Cambodia and had visited the kingdom in 1992.

“He has seen tremendous changes in the country under the leadership of the prime minister, with vast improvements in the agriculture, construction and manufacturing sectors,” he said.

“All these growth has made him believe strongly in investing in our country,” added Mr. Sophalleth.

The premier’s aide said Kolao Group is keen to set up the car and motorcycle assembly plant in a special economic zone.

“In response, the prime minister said he supported the project in principle and urged Mr. Oh to work with Sok Chenda Sophea, the secretary-general of the National Economic Council,” added Mr. Sophalleth.
