THE Apsara National Authority has launched a new Angkor tourism website, aiming to offer tourists a wide range of information about the history of the Angkor era, the main tourism sites, and tourism services.

The site, www.angkor.com.kh, went live on Wednesday.

It offers information such as the history of Angkor Wat, tour circuits, an interactive map, visitor code of conduct and detailed information on Angkor and its surrounding temples.

There are also details about the museum, entry requirements, embassy contacts, Angkor Wat tips, key facts, ticket prices and entry times.

Authority spokesman Long Kosal said the website was the main tool to provide tourists information.

“As a first step, we have run this website in English,” Mr. Kosal said.

“We are developing it in other languages, and these will be launched later.

“As it is our duty to manage the Angkor area, our main task is to provide exact information about the locations to tourists.”

However he said hotel and restaurant bookings were not included in the website.

Sok Sangvar, Apsara’s deputy director-general, said the website will play a main role in promoting the Angkor Archaeological Park, especially with information about traveling to Angkor Wat.

“This website has taken more than a year to design. It came along with beautiful pictures and enough information for domestic and international tourists to visit Angkor Wat,” Mr. Sangvar said

From Wednesday, the entrance price to the world-famous temple complex nearly doubled for a one-day visit.

The price of a one-day ticket to the Angkor Archaeological Park went up from $20 to $37, a three-day pass from $40 to $60 and a week-long pass from $60 to $72.
