Since three days, six high schools in Sihanoukville Province have been chosen by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport (MoEYS) to be equipped with the Computerized Student Attendance System (CSAS) in order to register the presence of each student attending school.
According to a local online newspaper, the system is still in the testing phase, and it was installed only in grade 10 classrooms. However, if successful, all classrooms in the six high schools will be equipped with this system.
Mr. Keng Vanny, school principal in commune IV, Sihanoukville City, told reporters that to register their presence, students have two choices - either they can scan their fingerprint or they can scan their ID card with the machine.
