
Two facilities were added to the health center in Porumchak commune, Prey Kabas district, Takeo province. According to Fresh News, a trusted local online newspaper, the construction of the facilities was funded by the government of Japan and many other generous Cambodians living oversea and in the country.
The inauguration of the facilities took place on Friday in the presence of Mr. Sogawa Takahisa, Vice President of the Mission of Japan in Cambodia, and Mr. Heng Sour, Director of the General Department of Finance at the Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training.
The center is called "Porumchak Cambodia-Japan Friendship Health Center". The two new facilities comprise 11 rooms allowing around 9,000 people living in the commune to come anytime for treatment.
In his speech, Mr. Takahisa said that besides Porumchak health center, through Japanese Grant Aid for Grassroots Human Security Projects "Kusanone" - small grant aid programme for NGOs and local communities - the government of Japan has been also supporting, four times already, the bigger referral hospital in Prey Kabas district by providing medical equipments, diagnostic facility, general and pediatric treatment facility, surgery facility etc.
