Cambodia Express News (CEN), a trusted local online newspaper, on Tuesday, reported that the CNRP convened its lawmakers to discuss about a top secret leaked conversation being said to be between Mr. Kem Sokha, president of the CNRP, and Prime Minister Hun Sen, concerning a stratagem for Mr. Kem Sokha to replace Mr. Sam Rainsy, former CNRP's president.

CEN added that for this meeting, many members of the CRNP's Steering Committee and the Permanent Committee were present. Mr. Kem Sokha, who led the meeting, has been asked to clarify the issue relating to the leaked audio conversation.

According to CEN, a number of lawmakers from the former Sam Rainsy Party planned to ask Mr. Kem Sokha to resign from the presidential function, due to the fact that Mr. Kem Sokha has been involving in sex scandals and in a stratagem to replace Mr. Sam Rainsy.

In the same way, Mr. Soung Sophorn, former CNRP youth leader and former CNRP lawmaker candidate for Pailing Province, who resigned from CNRP on Sunday, asked Mr. Kem Sokha to step down from the presidential post due to the same reason of sex scandals and stratagem to replace Mr. Sam Rainsy.

Mr. Sophorn argued that since its inception, the former Human Rights Party (HRP), led by Mr. Kem Sokha, was supported by the current government. For instance, because of the government, the HRP could organize its first congress at Olympic Stadium where the security was ensured by armed forces from the government.

Regarding this issue, Mr. Kem Sokha wrote on his Facebook page on Monday that he and other CNRP leaders knew very well where they came from, what kind of situation they were in nowadays, where they wanted to go, and for what reason.

"We continue to move on, and let Cambodian people find out who is wrong and who is right," wrote Mr. Kem Sokha.

As for Mr. Sam Rainsy, former president of the CNRP, he wrote on his Facebook page on Sunday in a view to call on "all fellow compatriots" to ignore all leaked documents including audio conversation. According to him, those documents were fabricated with the aim to divide the CNRP.

"To all fellow compatriots: Please disregard any materials (letters, statements or audio tapes) that have been invented or doctored and published out of their context, and don’t be deceived by such materials, which are just incitements aimed at dividing the CNRP," wrote Mr. Sam Rainsy.

Mr. Sam Rainsy added that either the president of the CNRP was Mr. Kem Sokha or himself, the CNRP remained the same.

"In all circumstances, as president or without any position in the party, Kem Sokha and I, Sam Rainsy, are as one," added Mr. Sam Rainsy.

According to the leaked audio conversation posted on a Facebook page under the name "SEIHA", on September 25 last year, a man confirmed by Prime Minister Hun Sen to be Mr. Kem Sokha, asked the premier to arrange for him to get the royal pardon in order to be able to register his name on the voter list, and to be the president of the CNRP.

An anonymous political analyst said that Mr. Sam Rainsy lacks commitment to Cambodian people living in the country. And the fact that every time he flees the country when a problem happens makes Cambodian people feel abandoned and faced the challenges alone. In contrast, Mr. Kem Sokha always sticks with Cambodian people in any circumstance.
