The Royal Government of Cambodia (RGC) plans to cancel a number of contracts with private companies unable to do any development on the island for which they won the contract.

Mr. Yon Min, governor in Sihanoukville province, told reporters on Tuesday that so far, among 21 islands, there are only around 7 islands that are being developed by certain companies. There were no development at all for 14 other islands in Cambodian water.

Last July, the RGC has ordered the authorities concerned to watch closely the companies winning the contract to develop the islands. In case they did not do any development on the island, or they are trying to resell their license to another company, the authorities have full rights to revoke their license.
