During a meeting on Tuesday with the candidates for the upcoming commune election, Mr. Kem Sokha, president of the opposition party CNRP, affirmed that to help ending disputes between political parties in the country, CNRP's members should stop talking about other party.
"In the current political context, I urge all members to stop talking too much about other people, we better think about our internal affairs. Other people's affairs [other political party's affairs] are well known by people living in the country as well as by the whole world. They know very well who is who," said Mr. Sokha. "We don't need any dispute, we must move on for the sake of the nation and the Cambodian people," added Mr. Sokha.
In response, Mr. Sok Eysan, spokesman for the ruling party (CPP), said that his party welcomed this move. However, his party as well as well other Cambodian people were waiting to see whether the CNRP acts as they said or not.
"We temporary believe what he said, however, we have to keep watching what he is doing in real life to see if he follows what he said or not," said the spokesman.
In contrast, Mr. Sam Rainsy, former president of the CNRP, in the same day, wrote on his Facebook page saying that last year he wrote to Prime Minister Hun Sen asking the premier to cap interest rate in a view to fight against what Mr. Rainsy called "financial slavery".
"More than two years ago, on 15 February 2015, I wrote to Prime Minister Hun Sen to suggest a cap on interest rates as a means to combat financial slavery," wrote Mr. Rainsy.
He added that the lack of markets for agricultural products was making Cambodian farmers in heavy debts.
