The Launch of the Phnom Penh Beltway II

The inauguration of the Phnom Penh Beltway II, Section I, and the launch of the construction of Section II of the same beltway took place on Monday in the presence of Prime Minister Hun Sen and Minister of Transport and Public Work Sun Chanthol.

The Phnom Penh Beltway II, Section I connects Kob Sreuv region to Russian Confederation boulevard in Sen Sok district, Phnom Penh capital. The total length of the Section I is more than 10 kilometers. The section was made from concrete with metal inside.

The cost for the construction of the section is about $10 million, 50 percent of the cost was covered by Phnom Penh City Hall, another 50 percent was covered by Hanoi City Hall.

The Section II of the beltway will be about 17 kilometers long. The section will be also made from concrete with metal inside. The section will connect the Section I of the beltway to the National Road 2 at Takhmao City.

The total cost of the Section II will be around $62 million. The construction will be funded by China and the Royal Government of Cambodia. This construction will take about 36 months.
