The U.S. and Cambodian governments will hold a public workshop on April 4 to help Cambodia prepare to implement the World Trade Organization (WTO) Trade Facilitation Agreement (TFA). Media are invited to attend the launch of the workshop, which will feature remarks by U.S. Ambassador William Heidt and Minister of Commerce H.E. Pan Sorasak. The launch will take place at the Raffles Hotel.
The TFA workshop will discuss the findings of a USAID-funded assessment on Cambodia’s readiness to implement the TFA, which was prepared at the request of the Government of Cambodia. The TFA is the first multilateral agreement successfully negotiated at the WTO, and seeks to help countries reduce the cost of importing and exporting goods and services. Joining the TFA will create significant opportunities for international trade and economic growth for Cambodia.
Members of the media who wish to attend this event are requested to register with the U.S. Embassy Public Affairs Section via telephone at 023-728-258 or by e-mail at Chreav@state.gov and arrive at the Raffles Le Royal Hotel no later than 8:00 a.m. on April 4, 2017.
