Yim Sovann: All achievements are from tax paid by Cambodian people

Yim Sovann, spokesman for the opposition party CNRP, on Friday, in his speech to CNRP's supporters gathering in Chroy Changva commune, Phnom Penh capital, for the last day of the commune election campaign, said that all current development and achievement were from tax paid by Cambodian people, not from a particular political party.

"A party said that all achievements belong to them. So, where all the money paid by Cambodian people for tax? All that money was all spent...? It is our achievements, we work to death to pay tax, we work day and night. But they said all [achievements] were only done by them," said Mr. Sovann.

He added that civil servants get their salary from tax paid by Cambodian people. As a result, they have to work for Cambodian people. And if the CNRP wins the elections, his party could achieve twice the amount of the current development and achievement done by the ruling party. But, instead, his party would say all achievements were from Cambodian people.

In contrast, in the same day, in his speech addressed to CPP's supporters during the campaign, Prime Minister Hun Sen said that peace and development existing on this poor land [Cambodia] were due to the sacrifice made by the CPP.

On the other hand, Prime Minister Hun Sen has been raising a question that which political party has brought peace to Cambodia, and besides the CPP, which political party has been participating with the CPP in rebuilding the country from scratch and to obtain such develooment and achievement.
