Lawmakers from the opposition party CNRP, on Sunday, have been declaring that on Monday at 9:30 AM, they would meet each other in front of Trapaing Phlong Prison where Kem Sokha, president of the CNRP, is imprisoned and charged by the Phnom Penh Municipal Court for treason.

In response, Pen Rath, police chief in Tbong Khmom province, said that around 200 policemen and 100 other soldiers had been dispatched to the prison. He would send more armed force to ensure security and order if any eventual illegal gathering should take place.

Officer Rath added that any visit is allowed or not, it's up to the court. The duty of the armed forces is to ensure security and order for the people and society.

Investigating Judge Ky Rithy has been denying the proposal made by CNRP lawmakers to visit Mr. Sokha in the prison. The judge said that the case was on the investigation phase and more evidence is needed.
