Dr. Lao Mong Hai, on Wednesday, told Radio Free Asia (RFA) that if the Cambodian court is independent, by law, any Cambodian citizen could file a complaint to the court asking them to dissolve any political party if he/she found that such political party has violated the laws.
Dr. Mong Hai also said that it was the ruling party's responsibility to create laws and regulations in order to make the Cambodian court independent. And the fact that the ruling party failed to do so was an offence leading to a possible complaint to dissolve the ruling party.
Concerning this issue, an anonymous political analyst said that in politics as in sport, people always try to beat their opponent, not to help their opponent to win the competition against themself. So, we must not count on the ruling party to make laws in favor of the opposition party, especially, in the Cambodian context.
The political analyst added that Cambodian people don't believe that the opposition party could make a change to the Cambodian judiciary system either, because they rarely talk about policy or reform, they don't have even a political agenda. What they are doing is asking foreign country to help them gain power, and let foreigners do the rest for them.
He also said that to the ruling party CPP, politics are the matter of life and death for them - if they lose election, they lose everything. Meanwhile, the opposition party does not care much about victory - win or lose they will stay the same as long as they could raise money from abroad.
"Moreover, on political arena as well as on boxing arena, people must be aware that while they have the right to hit their opponent, their opponent also have the same right to hit them back anytime. As a result, they have to be strong enough and with full of «confidence» to win the fight against their opponent. If not, their opponent will beat them up really bad," added the political analyst.
