Govt buys Koh Kong Bridge from private company

Starting from November 3, Cambodian people would cross Koh Kong Bridge with free of charge, because the government had bought the bridge and would put it for public use on Friday.

On Wednesday, Prime Minister Hun Sen wrote on his Facebook page stating that to help to ease Cambodian people's life, particularly, Cambodian people living in Koh Kong Province, his government decided to buy Koh Kong Bridge from LYP Group.

The length of Koh Kong Bridge is 1900 meters. So, it is the longest bridge in Cambodia. The construction of the bridge cost around $8 million. it was inaugurated in 2002.

The bridge is a key element in a joint Thai-Cambodian trade project. It was built to draw investment from Thailand and provide jobs for thousands of Cambodian people.
