The launch of the Japanese factory «Techno Park Poi Pet»

The launching ceremony of the the Japanese factory «Techno Park Poi Pet» took place on Friday in Sanco Poipet Special Economic Zone (Sanco Poipet SEZ) situated in Poi Pet City, Banteay Meanchey province.

Techno Park Poi Pet company is a subsidiary of the Japanese giant company Toyota Tsusho Corporation of which the headquarter is in Japan. Techno Park Poi Pet received the authorization from the Cambodian government on January 22 last year to build its factory on four hectares of land.

On the other hand, the factory was built to implement the investment projects from five other Japanese companies in order to produce vehicle spare part, electronic equipment, and electrical wire. The factory would provide 400 jobs for local people next year.

In his speech in the launching ceremony, Mr. Hidehisa HORINOUCHI, Ambassador of Japan to Cambodia, strongly hoped that through Techno Park Poi Pet company, the Sanco Poipet SEZ would continue to attract more and more investors from Japan in view to boost the economic development in Poi Pet City. Furthermore, the ambassador would also make his efforts to help to increase the size of the Japanese investment in the kingdom.

According to the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC), the investors from Japan have invested around $1 billion in 115 investment projects. So far, the investments created 36,000 jobs.

Moreover, the Sanco Poipet SEZ was built by the Sanco Investment company that was officially established in 2014 under the Sanco Cambo Investment Group, a joint-venture between Japanese and Cambodian investors.

"The Sanco Poipet SEZ is situated in a strategic location within close proximity to vital and main economic trading gate between Cambodia and Thailand, with quick and easy access to Thais major commercial hubs," wrote the the Sanco Investment company on its website.
