Two agreements were signed yesterday between Cambodia and Singapore during Singaporean President Tony Tan’s four-day state visit to the kingdom.
Prime Minister Hun Sen held talks with Mr. Tan yesterday at the Peace Palace where the two agreements were signed – one with the Labor Ministry regarding technical and vocational education and another between Phnom Penh’s Calmette Hospital and Singapore’s Tan Tock Seng Hospital.
Labor Ministry spokesman Heng Sour said the ministry signed an agreement with Singapore’s ITE Education Services regarding collaboration in the field of technical and vocational education and training (TVET).
ITE Education Services, a world recognized institution of TVET, will help train 80 Cambodian master trainers – from various public TVET institutions under the Labor Ministry – in three areas, according to the agreement.
Among the 80 master trainers, 32 will be trained in info-communications technology, 32 in automotive technology and 16 in electronics, Mr. Sour said.
He added that the 80 master trainers would then share their knowledge and skills acquired with another 240 TVET trainers based on a 1:3 ratio.
Meanwhile, the Singaporean president is scheduled to pay a visit to Calmette Hospital today and head to the Angkor temple complex in Siem Reap province this evening.
Mr. Tan’s four-day state visit ends tomorrow, when he will depart for Laos on another four-day state visit at the invitation of Bounnhang Vorachith, the President of Laos.
