Mr. Yim Sovann, spokesman for the CNRP, told reporters on Sunday that his party did not pay attention to the leaked audio conversation confirmed by Prime Minister Hun Sen that it was the conversation between him and Mr. Kem Sokha, president of the CNRP.
Mr. Sovann added that his party was making efforts in concentrating on the upcoming communal election instead.
In the same way, Mr. Kem Sokha wrote on his Facebook page that from March 3 to March 5, he and his colleagues were rather focusing on the preparation of a list of candidates from his party for the upcoming communal election.
However, previously, Mr. Kem Sokha wrote on his Facebook page saying that the CNRP was not a political party of the past, the CRNP was a political party for the future.
As for Mr. Sam Rainsy, former president of the CNRP, he agreed on this point by writing on his Facebook page on Sunday in a view to call on "all fellow compatriots" to ignore all leaked documents including audio conversation. According to him, those documents were fabricated with the aim to divide the CNRP.
"To all fellow compatriots: Please disregard any materials (letters, statements or audio tapes) that have been invented or doctored and published out of their context, and don’t be deceived by such materials, which are just incitements aimed at dividing the CNRP," wrote Mr. Sam Rainsy.
Mr. Sam Rainsy added that either the president of the CNRP was Mr. Kem Sokha or himself, the CNRP remained the same.
"In all circumstances, as president or without any position in the party, Kem Sokha and I, Sam Rainsy, are as one," added Mr. Sam Rainsy.
A series of leaked documents have become hot topics for local print media as well as local online media. The aim of those leaked documents was to attack a number of high ranking leaders in the opposition party (CNRP) as well as the ruling party (CPP).
The last leaked document was an audio conversation that Prime Minister Hun Sen confirmed on Sunday to be between him and Mr. Kem Sokha. In the conversation, among other subjects, the premier discussed with Mr. Kem Sokha about the possibility for Mr. Kem Sokha to be the president of the CNRP. As a result, Prime Minister Hun Sen said that what Mr. Kem Sokha did in the past was to follow his recommendations.
"H.E Kem Sokha always informs me before doing something, such as issuing declarations, and a number of other things," said Prime Minister Hun Sen.
