According to Fresh News, a local online newspaper, Chhieng Von, a lawmaker from the ruling party, openly condemned a number of NGOs for allegedly preparing a secret plan to support the opposition party CNRP for the upcoming elections by using phone and the Internet.
Mr. Von told Fresh News on Thursday that NGOs involved in the so-called "dirty plan" were already discovered, especially NGOs supported by foreigners. In response, his government would use legal measures against those NGOs and civil societies.
"Concerning this dirty plan, people [the authority] have been already discovering a number of involved NGOs and civil societies, especially, individual who is the mastermind behind this dirty campaign and who is supported by foreigners," said Mr. Von.
The lawmaker added that this "dirty plan" must be stopped at all costs because it could affect Cambodian people's will and social order. As for Mr. Von, such "dirty plan" supported by foreigners could lead to color revolution that will be ended in the destruction of peace and development in the country. He added that such peace and development were obtained from hard work and endurance.
Mr. Von's allegation came after a high ranking official from the Ministry of Interior had told Fresh News that a number of NGOs and civil societies, with a tendency to support opposition party, were preparing a secret plan to use phone and Internet as a mean for election campaigns. And those NGOs and civil societies are located in Chamkar Mon district.
