Kem Sokha, president of the opposition party CNRP, on Monday, called on Signatory States of the Paris Peace Accords to take measures against Prime Minister Hun Sen's government accused by Mr. Sokha for violating this Paris Peace Accords.
In his letter posted on his Facebook page on Monday, on the occasion of the 26th anniversary of the Paris Peace Accords, Mr. Sokha urged the Signatory States of the treaty to take tangible action not just to issue statement concerning the alleged violation.
"To the international community, especially, the Signatory States of the Paris Peace Accords, please help Cambodia and Cambodian people immediately [...] not just issuing statement, but, please, take also tangible measures. We also want to ask the Co-Presidents of the Paris Peace Accords to convene Signatory States for a meeting in order to solve the current crisis," wrote Mr. Sokha.
To Mr. Sokha, the use of «blockade» by Cambodian people to prevent other Cambodian people from using their rights to vote is the violation of the Constitution as well as the Paris Peace Accords.
Concerning this issue, an anonymous political analyst said that in Cambodian chess game, there is a tactic that chess player use to lock his/her opponent. In Cambodian language, this tactic is called «DAK-ANG» (ដាក់អង្គ), and chess player who could not move is said to be «JOAP-ANG» (ជាប់អង្គ). So, Mr. Sokha is «JOAP-ANG», because he could not move to anywhere nor do anything.
To this point, Senator John McCain, a former US fighter pilot who was shot down by Russian built surface-to-air missile (SAM) SA-2 over Hanoi, earlier this month, said that what the Cambodian government led by Prime Minister Hun Sen was doing, was to «hobble» the opposition party before the upcoming election in July 2018.
Mr. Sokha was arrested on September 3 early morning around midnight at his house in Phnom Penh following a video clip posted on the Internet for which Prime Minister Hun Sen has accused Mr. Sokha for high treason.
