Attorney Sam Sokong, one of the eight lawyers defending Mr. Kem Sokha, told reporters that his legal team was about to ask the Supreme Court for the «BRIEF» regarding Mr. Kem Sokha's case. And if his team found out that the court did not properly follow legal procedures, his legal team had the rights to appeal again to the Supreme Court.

"According to legal procedures, we could appeal to the Supreme Court again to ask the court to revise the case if we couldn't accept the court's decision. But we got to find new evidence confirming the court's decision is not right," said Attorney Sokong.

The Supreme Court in Cambodia, on Tuesday, decided to uphold the Court of Appeal's decision to keep Mr. Kem Sokha, president of the opposition party CNRP, in pre-trial detention in a custody in Tbong Khmum Province.

Concerning this issue, Attorney Sokong told reporters after the trial that the decision of the court was based on the fact that Mr. Sokha could commit more crime affecting social security in the country, if Mr. Sokha was released on bail. However, Attorney Sokong said that the court's decision was unacceptable.

Mr. Sokha was arrested on September 2-3, following a video clip posted on the Internet. He is accused by Prime Minister Hun Sen for treason.

After the arrest, the Phnom Penh Municipal Court decided to detain Mr. Sokha in a prison in Tbong Khmum Province for pre-trial detention. As a result, Mr. Sokha first appealed for a bail at the Court of Appeal which rejected his bail. Then, he continued to appeal for the bail at the Supreme Court.
