
The government of Japan, on Tuesday, provided $329,736 as grant to the Kingdom of Cambodia to develop infrastructure in Cambodian rural areas in three provinces.
According to Fresh News, the signing ceremony for the grant took place on Tuesday at the Embassy of Japan in Phnom Penh in the presence of Mr. Hidehisa HORINOUCHI, ambassador of Japan to Cambodia, and representatives from four different Cambodian institutions.
The grant was particularly given for four different development projects - $87,587 for the reparation of a road in Rom Tom commune, Rovieng district, Preah Vihear province; $89,632 for the construction of the Kragnong Senchey Health Center in Kratie province; $84,972 for the construction of the Barong Health Center in Kandal province; $67,545 is to equip Angkor Hospital for Children in Siem Reap province with medical x-ray and scanning machine.
Mr. Sam Leang Try, president of the Department of Public Work and Transport in Preah Vihear province, who came to receive the grant for the development of the road in his province, told reporters that the road would help Cambodian people living in Rovieng district to travel to school, hospital, market, and to other places more easily.
"We expect that around 2,300 people will benefit from the reparation of this road," said Mr. Leang Try.
